Obsidian Gears Up For Wasteland 2
Brian Fargo has added a huge incentive to drive Barren 2 Kickstarter support to even higher levels: Obsidian Entertainment.
I'll incur right to the point. If the Barren 2 Kickstarter, currently sitting at $1.65 million in funding, can reach $2.1 one thousand thousand before the clock hits zero 17 days, development of the spunky will be joined by Obsidian Entertainment. How huge is that?
Laughably so. Obsidian was formed by veterans of Black Isle Studios, whose logo you will see along games wish Fallout, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torture, and which, Eastern Samoa a division of Interplay, already has a long chronicle with Fargo. "Waste is one of my ducky RPGs of all time, and when Brian asked if I loved to work at the sequel, I jumped at the chance," Obsidian CCO and Planescape: Torment Lead Designer Chris Avellone told Rock, Paper, Shotgun. "While I've worked on Fallout 2 and Fallout: New Vegas, acquiring the hazard to work on the spiritual successor to the Side effect franchise is a honor."
Fargo said that the addition of Obsidian will gift the project access to "an incredible library of story, dialog and development tools" plus the experience to use them, which will help speed up the ontogenesis process. The fact that this is credibly as close as we're ever going to hit an Interplay/Hopeless Isle reunion is a pretty big plus, too.
It's obvious what needs to follow done directly. Barren 2 needs our money – all of information technology! Kickstarter.com, the great unwashe. Let's make this happen.
